The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and you know what that means – time for beach days, barbecues and of course, patriotic polish! I’ve always been a fan of this warm-weather holiday, and I firmly believe you can show the U.S. of A some love without overdoing it. For a more sophisticated take on nationalistic nails, I created a tutorial that features nail art solely on your ring finger. By following our easy ten-step tutorial, you’ll be looking festive and fashionable just in time for July Fourth. If you’re looking for an extra fun patriotic pop, don’t be afraid to add a daring red lip.
Step one: Paint the nail on your ring finger white, and the rest of your nails red.
Step two: After nails have dried completely, apply scotch tape in the shape of a upside down triangle on your ring finger nail, with the point facing downwards. Make sure to firmly press down on the tape to avoid bleeding. Also, be sure that the tape is high enough on your nail that there is room for an additional triangle underneath.
Step three: Paint your entire nail red, including the tape-covered portion.
Step four: Remove the tape while polish is still wet.
Step five: Wait for your nails to dry, and apply another triangle of tape below the first. Again, press down to avoid bleeding.
Step six: Paint your entire nail navy blue.
Step seven: Remove the tape while polish is still wet.
Step eight: Wait for your nails to dry once again, and place two strips of tape on the top of your nail, leaving an upside down triangular opening at the tip of your nail.
Step nine: Paint the tip of your nail red.
Step ten: Remove the tape while polish is still wet (last time, I promise!), and apply a clear coat once the polish has dried.
